Happy birthday, Imogen Holst!

Today, April 12 is the 111th birthday of the versatile musician Imogen Holst (1907-1984), and Wikipedia has honored her as today’s featured article.  She spent much of her life as a teacher and director of amateur and student ensembles.  She promoted the music of her father, Gustav Holst, served as Benjamin Britten’s assistant, and was the artistic director of the Aldeburgh Festival.  She also composed a large body of music, much of which is unknown and unexplored.

We find some chamber and vocal works on Youtube, but none of her orchestral music!  We hope some ensembles will investigate her pieces for large ensembles soon!
