This past week the New York Philharmonic premiered the second commissioned work from Julia Adolphe.  Sequenza21 used the opportunity to chat with the composer about the new work – and other projects, including a new opera.  Read on here.

NPR Music compiled a list of 150 greatest popular albums by women in an effort to “Turn the Tables” and reframe popular music in terms of the work of women.  Read the full list here.  Though certainly centered on popular music (Beyonce, Joni Mitchell, and the Spice Girls are all featured) – they also include the groundbreaking albums by Meredith Monk (Dolmen Music), Pauline Oliveros (Deep Listening), and Laurie Anderson (Big Science).
