News to start your week!

We mentioned the new opera, Vireo, by Lisa Bielawa being released online the other week.  The episodic serial work will be released online and on KCET – and episode 1 is now available to view online!

The Hart Institute for Women Conductors through the Dallas Opera Company has announced the next roster of participants.  Learn about the six successful applicants in the press release here.

And we can already look forward to the 2018 Women Composers Festival of Hartford!  They just announced their call for submissions.  Learn more on their website.

Be sure to read Caitlan Trulove’s article at Musicology Now about the use of music in the film score to Wonder Woman.  The summer blockbuster is getting a lot of attention, and rightly so, for finally giving voice to a woman as a superhero.  This is a great read about how the music itself strengthens the film and the underlying messages.
