Musical America featured Orin O’Brien, the first woman member of the New York Philharmonic.  She was hired by Bernstein in 1966, and is still performing.  She was recently awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by The Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara – only the 13th person to receive the award.  Read more here.
